I lean toward “data.”

Since people are interested in knowing everyone’s political views, I lean toward “data.” I support political candidates—regardless of whether they are right or left—who produce data-driven positive outcomes for the majority of people without negatively impacting minorities. Negatively is the word here. I am okay with stagnation, as no one can please everyone. But we can certainly care not to harm others knowingly.

For example, if most people like apples, we should invest in apple production, increase access to everyone, and lower costs. However, this should not be done at the expense of oranges that minorities might like. It’s okay not to invest in oranges as long as we are not taking them away from the minority of people who want them or consider their rights.

My example is metaphorical and probably funny. Still, I say it in all seriousness without trying to be singled out and be a victim of free speech consequences.
