Collecting Postcards from all 50 States in the USA
I like collecting postcards, a habit I developed while traveling to European countries during my PhD in the UK. At that time, a postcard was the best souvenir I could get, as it was cheap and less bulky to carry. I wrote the date of my travel and the names of the folks I met and was with when I purchased the postcard, and kept them in an album as a collection.
Recently, I posted a request on Reddit in the r/PostCardExchange subreddit, asking to collect postcards from all 50 states in the USA, and in exchange, I could send a Maryland postcard. Many people responded to my post with the willingness to send me a postcard from their respective states, following a state-specific theme. This is very exciting for me, and I’ll scan and publish all the cards I receive on this blog post as they arrive.
I prefer to add postcards that I receive from friends or strangers, found on Reddit or other sources, to the list below. However, if I can’t get one and have one from my travels, I will include it to complete the list. I am starting this exercise in April 2025.
